More on Islam & Communism

The Brothers at Austrolabe had some excellent observations about the Indiana University Study in which Communist tendencies are shown in the beliefs of the Muslims in certain countries about Islamic law. My comments are here.

As Br Umar observed in the comments of my previous blog, many Western Muslims are in political alliance with the ultra-left, and have become affected by their dogma. Another irony of this is that millions of Muslims were killed by the Stalinists who were trying to enforce their egalitarian ideals upon them.

  1. I think similar lines could be drawn to portions of Christian history and movements within it. One sect of Fransican monks actually hunted down and killed rich people.

I think every egalitarian movement could, in one way or another, be compared to communism.

I think it should actually be the other way around, I think communism, at its heart, comes from the egalitarian strains within Islam and Christianity, not the other way around.

  2. Abu Sinan:

The problem that I had is with government control/ownership of businesses and other such tenets that are totally foreign to Islam.

This is probably also the reason why some Muslims think you have to squeeze all the humanity and individuality out of a person for him to be perceived as a good Muslim.

How many brothers would say about a lifeless drone who never smiles or shows emotion…”Masha Allah, THAT brother is upon the Sunnah!”

  3. good point. since when did looking unhappy become part of the sunnah?
