A few things of interest:
- Scientists theorizing that poor diet, environment and too much cousin marriage are having cumulative negative effects in Pakistan
- I’m sure most of you have read about the racist cartoon and comments about Condelezza Rice by now. This is just a reflection of their wider culture and views about blacks in general. I have had several Palestinian children (one as young as 4) to refer to me as an “abd” (slave). Their parents would find nothing wrong with this, especially seeing as how they are the ones that taught them to refer to blacks as ’slaves’.
“This is just how we refer to black people brother. We don’t mean anything by it. What’s the problem”. Just a reflection of the culture of denial (Who US?!) that Muslims have adopted.

You know the sad thing is to some people I can seriously understand that they wouldn’t mean anything by it especially if they knew of no other word. However what would be a more positive word? Afreeqee, Aswaadee, Bunnee, Afreeqee-Amreekee???
