  1. The difference in the quality of this program compared to other more recent (and notorious) documentaries on Islam is the presenter of the program and the research thats gone on behind the scenes. Its rare to see a documentary focus on the opinions of the average UK Muslim, instead of the self-styled Islamic experts, or the attention-hungry nutters like al-Muhajiroun.

  2. after the remarks at the end of the first clip, I can say that he may feel that way because many Muslims don’t believe that there is a moral fiber to westerners.

Could this be because many Muslim in the west, esp. ones that are from cultures that do not have a background in Judeo-christian peoples, or are so far from that geographically and culturally, that they aren’t in touch with what could be common morals and ethics amongst their “hosts”?

  3. I find it strange though how the program presents “British culture” as drinking, pre-marital sex, and sexual freedom.

  4. assalamu alikeum

Hood: I agree with your last sentiments. What annoyed me about that doc was that it bascially made anyone who didnt fit in with what they presented to be british culture (ie drink, sex and fornication), was somehow deemed to be extreme. Im dissapointed that Jon Snow, one of the few intelligant and crediable journalists we have in britian took part in this rubbish.

For those of you outside the u.k, the advert for this was much worse then the documentary lol. I remember seeing it on tv and thinking: could it be more sensational and over-dramatic?! Seriously, they really played it out. Im sick of Dispatches now. They used to be good and their documentaries were generally well balanced, but with every documenatary they’ve done about muslims recently, its been one sensational (and usually cut & paste) documentary after another.

The undercover mosque one, showed how low they’ve stooped for sensational tv and high viewings. They practially chopped up different sentances, omitting segments of speech from speakers to form newly contruscted ones, which they hadnt said (this was the case for most, expect a few who really no amount of cut and paste would hide what they were saying!). I expect more to follow such suit.
