Blackamerican Muslims more unhappy
…about being American than their immigrant counterparts
A recent survey found that, compared to many countries in Western Europe, immigrant Muslims assimilate relatively well. In fact, the study found that African American Muslims more unhappy with America and, along with younger Muslims, were more likely to have extremist views. Is it because, minus the post-9-11 racial profiling, African Americans have a bit more to be disillusioned about, none of which has much to do with Islam?
Right. This has nothing to do with Islam, but it is brought into Islam along with other baggage.
Let’s be honest. Blackamericans - irrespective of religion - are in many ways “trained” to be unhappy and complain and expect to be on the bottom. In the late 1980’s and early 1990s, you had black churches that relentlessly complained about the evils of white society and discussed the latest conspiracy from the pulpit. Though it has died down some - because there is not a lot of money to be made with the “afrocentric” angle anymore - you will still find this in the black community.
The point is that this is nothing peculiar to Blackamerican Muslims, but just more proof that they bring this into Islam with them. So the myth of some kind of “magical transformation” upon becoming Muslim should be put to rest. It is a mentality that is pervasive in Blackamerican community.
Blackamericans in general are more likely to believe in wild conspiracy theories (i.e., plots of all whites conspiring to “put them down”) and claim racism at every turn. This is because of the mix of “black religion” (something that transcends religion) siege mentality and a history of the genuine plots against blacks in this country.
You will find black non-Muslims that are just as nutty as any of the Muslims in the local barber shop. Recently in Philadelphia while I was riding on a bus - I saw a group of black maniacs in paramilitary gear on the sidewalk with bullhorns shouting a bunch of conspiracy non-sense to the people as they walked by. Sometimes you can run into a alcoholic on the streets that will rant about how the white man made him that way. Find ten black drug addicts and/or alcoholics, and nine of them will probably tell you that “the white man made me this way”
So upon becoming Muslim, many of blacks already have this tendency and may even see their becoming Muslim as part of breaking the conspiracy. The conspiracy is now clothed in Arabic terms. The term “white man” is replaced with “the Kaafir”. Another layer of conspiracy is added to the conspiracy fruit cake.
After that, another layer is added to the conspiracy fruit cake, as they are fed a steady diet of wild anti-Jewish blood libel, anti-Jewish conspiracies (Pepsi stands for: “Pay Every Penny to Save Israel” and Starbucks funds the Israeli Defense Forces, etc) by some of the Arabs (particularly Palestinians). This only distracts them from what they need to be doing (taking care of themselves and their families and working on becoming a better citizen) instead of being caught up in some “movement” that will eventually fizzle out as more people wake up and see that the only conspiracy is in their heads. It only adds to the unhappiness when they see that they have all but thrown their lives away in these “movements”.
So with Blackamerican Muslims, I suspect that part of what they are calling “extremist views” is probably the tendency to believe in conspiracy theories. This means that many Blackamerican Muslims are still caught up in “black religion” instead of breaking those mental shackles and using Islam as a means to improve their lives
How can you be happy when you think that people are out to get you because you are black and because you are Muslim on top of that?
They should have asked these questions:
Do you believe that the US gov’t secretly planning to wipe out blacks?
Do you believe that the US gov’t is secretly planning to put all Muslims in internment camps?
Is George Bush the Dajjal? (if not, then is it Cheney?)
Are there more or less than 15 spies are in your local masjid?
How many of your neighbors are spies?
Are there more or less than 30 taps on your phone?
Are there more of less than 2 FBI agents following you at all times?
Is Kentucky Fried Chicken part of a plot to get the Muslims to both eat the haraam AND give money to Israel?
Most importantly: Is this post part of a US plot to belittle the noble efforts to expose the US plot against you?

So explain to me why I can’t afford to pay 90 bucks a month for cable, therefore I have to miss monday night wrestling…YES i have alot to be angry about it!
I need to know when China is coming back, what is going on with DX and where in the heck did the icky boogey man come from, he’s gross.
You’re darn right, I’m upset when I go to the 7-11 off of SHeriff road I pay $1.53 for my 24 oz of coffee, yet I pay $1.36 on Lanham Severn road…. yes the white man via the african workers is trying to get my money and hold me back. That spare change could be used to pay for cable so I watch wrestling and reruns of law and order.
Some one is definately plotting against me. They are trying to make me lose my religion because now I must watch deal or no deal, which is gambling…and I’m trying to win 10 grand which cost .99 per text message I send. You knwo I do it the maximum amoutn of 10 times per show, which adds an additional $40 onto my bill each month. Indeed the man is powerful, especially if he’s a kaffir man
LOL@ Bint Will!! You’re too funny.
I agree that dissent in black and brown Americans is ingrained. But disagree that this is what has led to the destructive and depressive state that has many in it’s clenches. I think dissent is healthy and necessary is many cases, as are some conspiracy theories. It’s what helped the slaves and the freed blacks in the beginning stand tall through the atrocities that they faced. Malcolm X is one Muslim that used those same tools to promote critical thinking and to help a lot of Black Americans help themselves.
Being caught up in the isms and playing follow the current trend so to speak is what you are describing. And you are right, this is the nasty, nutty and empty culture that is usually responsible for some african american brothers in places like NJ and Philly to put on a bedroom dishdasha that he’s had hemmed up almost up to his knees with flip flops in the fall and walk down the blvd with his two wives and 10 kids that all live in a 2 or 3 bedroom apartment when he’s yet to learn the ahkam of salat. Of course, these type of Muslims are unhappy with America and everything and everybody else (Muslims included). They’re empty, playing a role that once your in is hard to get out of. No survey needed to figure that out.
The thing I find interesting though about this survey is that it seems to want to make a connection between the international (Arab/SE Asian) extremism found abroad and the Black America Muslim community when there is no connection. Issues that are choking the BA Muslim communities have nothing to do with what’s going on in the M.E. I’ve never even visited a salafi community in states that spoke about filisteen, sheeshan or Iraaq -except to distinguish them as khawaarij or something.
And I’d love to know which Black American Muslims they surveyed? We all know, Muslim or not, most black folks are not going to answer a list of questions over the phone, it could a spy or worst- the feds!
as-salaamu ‘alaikum,
This is an interesting statement:
And it begs me to ask the obvious question, trained by whom?
” So the myth of some kind of magical transformation upon becomming Muslim should be put to rest”-Tariq Nelson
ALLAHU AKBAR Brother!!! Alhamdial!!!
This would resolve so many of our negative issues as a people and especially as Muslims. I see this as the “born again” attitude or ” get saved” attitude. Permenant change that is healthy and moderate requires consistency over a long peroid of time.
I’m leery of overnight changes and the “insta” scholar.
Salaam
Has anyone defined exactly what ‘extremist’ views are as far as the poll is concerned? Is it not clear that anyone who believes in praying on time or going to the masjid 5 times a day and actually does it is considered an extremist by many? Certainly anyone who has nerve enough to espouse belief in the ‘J’ word! Let’s not forget those who wear full hijab or who do not shave their beards or trim them in some ’stylish’ manner. Not to mention those who memorize the Qur’aan or who teach their children to do so or others who refuse to shake hands with the opposite sex or who lower their gazes! How about those who eat only clearly marked or trusted halal meats or who don’t collect interest on their money or who refuse to work in places that would demand they drop any semblance of ‘Islamic’ identity like reading an Islamic book in the open! How about those who never swallowed US policies, strategies or behavior in the Mideast or elsewhere and saw through Mr. Bush and company from the start? If more of these ‘extremists’ exist among African-American Muslims, then maybe the poll will turn out to be an honor!
I think you have not accurately stated the position of these brothers. KFC is not part of any anti-Muslim plot; it is Popeyes my brother and if you will notice their wings often come in the form of a Star of David- straight from the Mossad food tampering lab and they are combined with PEPSI ( Pay Every Penny to Save Israel) and McDonald’s who gives their profits every Wednesday to Israel and the makers of strawberry soda who market it to the community while putting chemicals in it that will destroy fertility……JK
Brother Umar,
I would have to agree with you on the Popeye’s conspiracy. After all, Popeye is a WHITE MAN!
Interesting…. I assume you all do not believe jewish bras are the true source of breast cancer. tsk tsk tsk
Peel that crust off your third eye people! Wake Up Muslims! Free your mammary protrusions ladies
Don’t believe me, I will gladly e-mail you the PROOF of the destruction of the Jewish Bra
Btw… I went to the 7-11 on 450 by Pizza Palace, they charged me $1.46 for the 24 oz, and they attempted to con me into buying a pink energy drink… HMPH
These wild-conspiraacy theories don’t affect just the Black Americans, but also their counterparts in the UK. A couple of weeks ago there was a show on TV following some of the gangs in South London, and the presenter while interviewing gang members, ex-gang members, and even black social workers was stunned when they all blamed whitey for plying their communities with alcohol but moreso drugs.
LOL: Funny stuff
But is there any truth in their paranoid views.
-CIA was involved in Drugs during the Vietnam war.
-CIA was involved in Drugs & Arms during the Iran-Contra Scandal.
-Before the 1980s, Afghanistan produced 0% of the world Heroin, but after the CIA’s Mujahedeen came, suddenly Afghanistan became the world supporter of Heroin. Then the Taliban came and it dropped. Now Afghanistan again has become the largest exporter of Heroin under the watchful eye of America. One would think that fields of red poppies should be obvious to spot. Certainly, journalist have no problem in finding them.
-Iraq is cultivating Poppy fields for the first time ever.
Could there be a connection between CIA and Drugs? Of course there is. The CIA is arms deep in drug smuggling. Anyone who believes otherwise is blind.
Is this aimed at black, not really, it is aimed at any broken society were drugs can be sold. This includes American populace.
Wake up!
Sign of Our Times,
Why did the Iron Sheik retire in 2003. Noticed he was only inducted this year. WHy isn’t he hanging around like Hogan and the other old dried up white men in sports entertainment. Is it because he’s Iranian? A sheik? Wore a thwab in the ring? Can we start a petition for him to return, so I can be his side kick…I just want to get in the ring with Booker T’s girl and give her a good whopping, then I’m return to the safety of cyber world
Why is the Sheik’s nephew known as the “suicidal” maniac? Is it because he’s not white? Was Sabu really caught with drugs or released because he’s Iranian?
Okay let me stop playing lol
Sign Times, actually Afghanistan used to be a hot spot in the 60’s where hippies going to India could seriously load up on hashish and opium based drugs because it was everywhere. Maybe the CIA lets drug trafficers go if / when they can provide intel to them (its up to the CIA to figure of its genuine or BS). Perhaps its unethical or even illegal, but the police do things like that all the time and perhaps they get information that prevents a greater evil, which is something I hear from other Muslims all the time about stuff that seems unsavory to us or from the Khidr story (or, the CIA keeps foreigner sad who want to see more Americans die each day, depending on your point of view) It would be nice if it was all reiewed by the public so that trafficers who provide bad intel have the public demanding the CIA to nab them anyways.
Bint Will, u r too funny, im not through reading all replys yet, im sure that their are many more that are just as funny. Never take life so serious that u cant stop and laugh at yourself……lol

*cough*
OmarG,
I disagree.
I didn’t say they allowed traffic, I said they were involved in the act. Also letting a little punk dealer on the street go is not the same as letting a drug warlord go for a bit of fluff information. Allowing thousands of tons of opium to go through, I mean how much information does the CIA need? Your comment demonstrates either a naive or apologetic thinking.
- The Iran-Contra scandal was for finance covert operations that they couldn’t get senate to finance. No intelligence involved just lots of money, money they needed.
- Vietnam drug operations was also to do help finance CIA operations. A war that was started on a fabricated lie.
- Afghan-Russo war was also funded by drugs.
If they did it in the past, it is by no stretch of the imagination they are going to do it again and again. The CIA is full of vile practices: from over throwing governments to supporting/nurturing violent militia groups, few more items like drug trafficking would not harm its moral credibility.
“Afghanistan used to be a hot spot in the 60’s where hippies going to India”
A market to cater for hippies coming to India is not the same as a market that supplies most of the worlds drug supply. There is a scale difference: “World” vs. “Hippies on Holiday”.
Narcotics trade is estimated to be around to be 2-5% of the worlds GDP. And guess which country according to the UN is the biggest place to launder money? That much money does help keep the economy strong. Also that much money going out of the country would harm the economy, so why not try to facilitate it and keep the money circulating within the US. CIA: “Will let you sell your drugs if you keep the money in our economy”. It is a simple matter of economics.
Second if America, as it claims is fighting (the abstract concept of) “terror” surely drug traffickers would be in on its list. Oh wait, Bush did say the “War on Drugs” well help the “War on Terrorism”… could it be just given the public a load of BS to attain more funding. More accurately it should be called the “War of Terror” and the “War of Drugs”.
Since the War of Terror, the drug coming to America and Europe has increased. It seems CIA is doing a good job for funding its covert operations. Never has Afghanistan cultivated so much opium and I am sure the CIA is grateful for it.
Also note that if the Drugs don’t work for USA, it works against it. Drugs money is also usually involved in Arms and I am sure the Intelligence agencies know that.
Bint Will,
My advice is not to dismiss everything. Read Gary Webb or Michael Ruppert (Former LAPD Narcotics Officer) books.
As for the “For those in the dark…” post, funny stuff. I think one should use common sense. There are tons of crack pot conspiracies theories, but there also some valid ones. Ones from the past have included “Operation Gladio”, American support of Nicaraguan militias, Pinochet, Tonkin Gulf Lie, and many more. Vile actions are not taken at random, there has to be a purpose and a goal.
black people are naturally mad! There is NO evidence of racism..
A report by the body claimed Africans and Caribbeans suffer from even higher rates of schizophrenia than statistics suggest.
Lee Jasper, chair of the African Caribbean Mental Health Commission, rejected the findings. ‘We are seeing racism on an industrial scale in the mental health service.”
