Malicious Slander

UPDATE 5: I’d like to thank all the people who wrote emails in support in the aftermath of the libelous attack on the mosque by a neo-white supremacist organization and the vandalism that happened after their article. As a black person I can not reason with a person who hates me on the basis of the color of my skin. I only pray that more people do not become convinced by their (not so veiled) racist and anti-black agenda

p1010014.jpg

UPDATE 4: Some lunatic apparently inspired by slander posted by Mr Gaubatz threw stones through the window at Dar Al Hijrah last night. Also some idiot who apparently reads their trash called me a “sh*tskin” in the comments last night that I deleted afterwards. David and his minions are such “nice people”. This is exactly why I refuse to link to their site so that I will not be overrun with racist trolls from their site

Please pray for Imam Shaker ElSayyid and Imam Johari Abdul Malik as they were targeted specifically by the Gaubatz hit piece and I fear that the two of them may be in danger of bodily harm of worse from these racists. More to come…

———————————-

I was forwarded one of the most outrageous hit pieces that I have seen in a long time from the so called “Mapping Sharia in America Project” - a groups that advocates making adhering to Islam an offense punishable by 20 years in prison

First, I will say to all those who may read this and try to paint me as an extremist, that my opposition to terrorism is unequivocal and known and that I have written many times condemning terror and terrorism and those who endorse it. If terrorism were being taught at Dar Al Hijrah, I would be the first to condemn it LOUDLY and clearly.

But I can not and will not endorse smearing and flat out lies against people that are not terrorists nor endorse terrorism. If the aim is to get those who are trying to kill us all, then I am with you. But if the aim is to lie, slander and defame - even those that are working with law enforcement in many cases - then we can not join such an effort.

That said, I contend that this “report” is a COMPLETE fabrication and malicious LIE designed to dehumanize and slander Muslims. To say that this “report” is full of “mistakes” is giving too much credit. It is full of deliberate and malicious lies.

They also know that most who read their “report” will not read any refutation of their outrageous and slanderous piece.

I have taken it piece by piece. The “report” said:

Sporting a beard and Muslim dress, Gaubatz said he went on May 18 to the center, pretending to be an American interested in becoming a convert to Islam. He discovered the center espoused terrorism and jihad against America.

How many people interested in Islam come in “Muslim dress”? I was there on that day and any such person would have been directed to me since Imam Johari was not there that day. THAT DID NOT HAPPEN. I met no such person on that day. This sentence shows that this is clearly written for an audience that has preconceived notions of converts as being so romantic with the idea of becoming Muslim that they come into the door wearing “Muslim dress”. I have been Muslim for 12 years and not once have I seen a person interested in becoming Muslim enter the door wearing “Muslim dress”. Any Muslim reading that statement can see how ridiculous it sounds. Unfortunately a person with no experience in the mosque will not know that, and these people know it.

“They are teaching what they call Jihad Qital, which means physical jihad,” Gaubatz said. “They’re teaching violence and hatred of the United States.”

So a complete stranger walks into a mosque and he is immediately indoctrinated into “jihad” and not the fundamentals of Islam? I have not heard any teaching of violence and hatred against the United States. To the contrary, the problem some who actually DO sympathize with the nutters complain about Dar Al Hijrah’s message of civic involvement, registering to vote and reaching out to neighbors.

Further, Dar Al Hijrah is active in Fairfax County and has many other interfaith partners in the DC metropolitan area.

Gaubatz said that he met the two primary clerics at Dar Al-Hijrah, Imam Shaker Elsayed and Imam Johari Abdulmalik. Both men have been trained in Saudi Arabia. He says another key individual is Yusef Estes, an informal senior leader at the center and an internationally influential Muslim scholar who was trained in Saudi Arabia.

As I mentioned before, Imam Johari was not even present on the Friday they claimed to visit and he nor Shaker Elsayed were “trained” in Saudi Arabia. Neither was Yusef Estes for that matter.

On May 18th 2007, Imam Johari left Washington on Air-Tran heading to Houston that morning and did not return to Virginia until Sunday May 20 th 2007, so he could not have met with Mr. Gaubatz as claimed in this hit piece.

Although, Yusuf Estes lives in the neighborhood, he is not a leader of the Dar Al-Hijrah community – informally or otherwise. He is a former southern Christian pastor and is well known and respected as a lecturer nationally. Why did they even throw his name out there?

“They put me through the process of learning their faith and ideology,” Gaubatz said. “They felt close to me and they gave me literature and CDs. They told me to study. The literature is very Jihad Qital.”

He speaks as if it is like becoming a Mason when he speaks of being “put through the process” and being given a secret mission of some type. Secondly, after just meeting him, they felt “very close” to him? This sounds like something written for a person who has seen Syrianna.

He said that the Islamic center has deep ties to Saudi Arabia and espouses Wahhabism, a virulent and puritanical version of Islam.

“Many members of the mosque provided me literature to study. Most of the literature they gave me was from Saudi Arabia,” he said. “Their literature preaches that America and the West are decadent and evil, and that Muslims have a moral duty to engage in violence against the infidels.”

Just had to throw that out there didn’t they. There are no “deep ties” to Saudi Arabia. As for the literature, I don’t believe this for a second. There is no such literature being given out at Dar Al Hijrah preaching violence against non-Muslims.

“Many members of the mosque” provided him with literature?? There are more than 3,000 people that come to Jumuah on Friday. Even if this fairy tale were true, most of the people would have had no idea that he was even there - especially since he was allegedly in “Muslim dress” - much less spoke to him - as 99.9% have to hurriedly return to work - and do not just have literature on them at all times to give to people.

Why did they not go into the mosque with a hidden camera to prove these outrageous lies? Because if they went to the masjid, the most likely scenario of a person that randomly shows up on Jumuah - especially in a mosque the size of Dar Al Hijrah - is that he will be (sadly) ignored by most of the people especially if he “looks Muslim”

Finally, there is NO literature distributed at Dar Al Hijrah that is anti-American or that advocates violence. This is a malicious and outright lie.

Gaubatz says that Dar Al-Hijrah and other radical Islamic centers in the U.S. are funded by Saudi Arabia, which is the primary sponsor of the Wahhabist brand of Islam.

“The ultimate goal for those at Dar Al-Hijrah is to instill Sharia law in the U.S. and have America adhere to the Islamic faith,” he said. “They want America to be an Islamic state.”

The goal of Dar Al-Hijrah is stated in the Mission and Vision of the masjid as listed on the website. Dar Al Hijrah is NOT funded by Saudi Arabia or any other foreign country. The accounting of the mosque’s income and expenditures are posted on the wall each month for anyone to see.

Gaubatz said that the imams at the center encouraged him to read the works of their “friends”—some of whom have been convicted for terrorism-related activities. According to Gaubatz, one of those “friends” he was encouraged to read is Ali Al-Tamimi, a radical Islamist author, who was convicted of inciting terrorism in connection with the Virginia Jihad Network.

Firstly, anyone want to tell me what books that Ali Al-Timimi has written that someone would have suggested to get his books? To my knowledge Ali Al-Timimi has no books and was NOT an author. Anyone want to point to these books by Ali Al-Timimi? This alone shows how absurd this is. Regardless, Dar Al Hijrah does not distribute any materials by Al Al-Timimi

Secondly, Ali Al-Timimi and others established a seperate center near Dar Al Hijrah because of disagreements he and others had with the Dar Al-Hijrah.

Anyone GENUINELY interested in fighting terrorism will distance themselves from this SLANDEROUS hit piece filled with lies and complete fabrications designed to fool the people. It is really sad that the Washington Times would print something so blatantly false and malicious.

I also hope that Muslims will not read malicious “reports” like this and decide to become suspicious of those who visit our mosques.

These people say that they plan to “visit” all the mosques in the United States. That only means that we can expect more slanderous hit pieces. Their hoped conclusion of their “study” is that the Muslims are all irrational medievalists that can only be dealt with at the bottom of a nuke.

UPDATE: Seems that he did come, but not in a beard and “Muslim Dress” as indicated in the article which is why I contended earlier that no such person came. I suppose that was added for dramatization.

These people were treated with nothing but the utmost kindness and no one said anything about terrorism or jihad or anything of that sort. I suppose I should be glad that they spared me from their slander. The Father in the combo “took shahaadah” at Yusef Estes’ hands on that Friday and left after that. I can personally bear witness that there was nothing anti-American said to him by Yusef Estes or anyone around at that time. And no one spoke of violence much less condoned any. His article is a LIE and FABRICATION

UPDATE 2: I want people to realize that you could be the next to be slandered. This guy is calling for everyone that adheres to Islam to be jailed for 20 years and in relentless. I see now first hand that he will lie and smile in your face (while despising you inwardly) to achieve his means to dehumanize. On their website (You can google Society of Americans for National Existence as I refuse to link to their website) this is what they are lobbying the government for:

Whereas, adherence to Islam as a Muslim is prima facie evidence of an act in support of the overthrow of the US. Government through the abrogation, destruction, or violation of the US Constitution and the imposition of Shari’a on the American People.

THEREFORE, IT IS RESOLVED THAT:

[1] A “Muslim” shall be defined as any person who adheres to Islam or acts in support of the adherence to Islam or who makes any written or oral declaration in support of the adherence to Islam. The “Muslim Nation” or “Umma” shall be defined as all Muslims.

[2] “Adherence to Islam” shall be defined as any act, including any written or oral declaration, in support of Shari’a or in furtherance of the imposition of Shari’a within any territory of the United States of America. “Territory of the United States of America” shall be defined as any territory under the civilian or military control or governance of personnel acting for and on behalf of the US Government.

[3] “Shari’a” shall be defined as any set of rules, precepts, instructions, or edicts which emanate directly or indirectly from the god of Allah or the prophet Mohammed and which include directly or indirectly the encouragement of any person to support in any way the abrogation, destruction, or violation of the US Constitution or the destruction of the national existence of the United States of America. Any rule, precept, instruction, or edict arising from the extant rulings of any of the five authoritative schools of Islamic jurisprudence (the Hanafi, the Maliki, the Shafi’i, the Hanbali, or the Ja’afariya school or fiqh) are prima facie Shari’a without any further evidentiary showing.

[4] It shall be a felony punishable by 20 years in prison to knowingly act in furtherance of, or to support the, adherence to Islam.

[5] The Congress of the United States of America shall declare the US at war with the Muslim Nation or Umma.

UPDATE 3: They are White Supremacists (Why am I not surprised?) This quote from their mission statement on their website:

America is a unique people bound together through a commitment to America’s Judeo-Christian moral foundation and to an enduring faith and trust in G-d and in His Providence. America’s founding, and its greatness was neither accident nor staging ground for some better existence or world state. America was the handiwork of faithful Christians, mostly men, and almost entirely white, who ventured from Europe to create a nation in their image of a country existing as free men under G-d.

  1. This reminds me of reading some travelogues of Westerners who went to Muslim lands in the 17th and 18th century. One would find statements and claims that would seem absurd to anyone with the smallest amount of genuine knowledge, but read as a really great story if you were willing to put all sensibility aside. Muslims are treated as some kind of strange, exotic, species that must be studied, and if one does so they will find sensational, possibly barbaric characteristics.

Someone always takes on the duty of carrying on tradition, no matter how repugnant it may be.

I’m assuming you have a more condensed version of this post to shoot off to the editor? Others who live in the area should be encouraged to write similar rebuttals. Looks like the Washington Times has their very own Jayson Blair.

  2. jazakallahu khayr for posting this, its good that someone cleared up the misconceptions they were spreading

  3. [...] Tariq Nelson and Umar Lee both have pieces up about the so-called Mapping Sharia in America Project.  Apparently, someone ‘converted’ to Islam at a mosque open day and then went on to engage Umar in a very strange email conversation that includes such questions such as: 2. From reading the various articles you wrote on Salafism and my being a new convert, do we at Dar Al Hijrah strive for a Caliphate State in America? From my readings I understand Saudi Arabia practices the purest form of Islam in regards to Sharia Law. [...]

  4. [...] has more on the “malicious slander” this fake convert then [...]

  5. I want to reiterate what Tariq has said above in that the information in the article is completely false.

None of the imams of Dar Al-Hijrah use the word infidels let alone advocate violence.

Neither I nor the Center has ever espoused terrorism or jihad.

The imams have never used the construct “jihad qital” nor espoused hatred of the United States.

Dar Al Hijrah as an institution and I as an individual have never disseminated any materials of Ali Al-Timimi.

Further, people who come with a secret agenda, unless they produce the secret information, I don’t find anything they say believable.

However, I also want to emphasize that we will continue to keep our doors open and assume that people who come to visit the masjid are sincere in their intentions to learn about Islam and Muslims.

  6. [...] may have to add an adendum to Al Franken’s book - lying Muslim haters et cetera. Tariq’s article is quite disturbing, though, in truth, not hard to believe. And while I wish to treat this incident [...]

  7. Yes, we must stay open and inviting. I think that part of what these racists want us to do is to withdraw and isolate and never refute their lies

  8. I am a white convert to Islam. I have been going to Dar al Hijrah, on and off, for five years now. I have heard all of the people named in the article speak in both a private and public capacity. Never, ever have I heard any such statements made.

I had to laugh about the “Jihad qital” stuff. Not only is that improper Arabic usage, I have never, ever heard that term used, even by bonafid Jihadists like bin Laden or az-Zawahiri. Like the term “taqqiya” it seems to be a term that is not used by, nor know of, by 99% of Muslims out there. It is a term that is used by anti-Muslim Islamophobes.

The problem here is that the vast amount of Americans do not know the difference. it does not surprise me that these men are white supremists. White supremists use the same tactics, half truth, lies, inventing history, you name it.

I suggest that the people’s mentioned in the article contact lawyers, maybe get CAIR involved and sue the people resonsible for slander. It is clear that some of the claims they have made are false and can easily be proven. It is clear that the claims they made were meant to disparage and denigrate people based on what they knew were lies.

This is clear grounds for a slander charge. A high punative judgement against them would probably shut down their operation for good.

I also suggest that copies of this blog article be sent to every Muslim association in the USA. Get it out in the forums, in the CAIR e-mail list, everything. Hopefully these people can be caught out. It would be great to have a future visit of theirs caught on our OWN video so that it can be put out to refute the lies these guys are making.

These guys are the real enemy of America. Imagine, a country founded for the freedom of ALL religions making adherence to one a 20 year prison sentence? Insane!

  9. I came to Islam over 21 years ago, after obtaining a BA degree in Philosophy and Religious Studies. I can assure you nothing stated by this agent provocoteur is true. Not even Orientalists, of whom I have known and with whom I studied, even came up with such nonsense. As for the legislation this person is trying to push, well… this is America. We interned the Japanese in WWII, we forced marched thousands of Ojibway to their death along the Trail of Tears, we bombed Nagasaki after the Japanese were ready to surrender just so we could test both the H and the A bombs. What aren’t we capable of in terms of inhumanity to other men. So such efforts as this need to taken seriously by Muslims and need to be agressively countered with the truth. If we continue to fear to speak out, we will soon be unable to speak. If the Holocaust taught us nothing, then we like them, will be doomed to some future gas chamber, because we were too afraid to make waves. Acceptance and cooperation, lying low and keepng our heads down, being Mr. Nice Guy only got the Jews and the Japanese a trip to Auschwitz or Manzanar. Are we next?

  10. I am not suprised at all by this group of muslim and islam haters. We must remember that even people with good intentions may succumb to such propaganda against muslims. We all need to join CAIR and other organizations to strengthen our selves. We must be part of the system as well and educate our children against these type of attacks that can ignite wholesale repression of muslims.

We as American Muslims will be looked at as the standard bearers for all Muslims around the world. We cannot afford to allow this group to become mainstream. This group already has the ear of the Radical Right Radio Race Pimps who have muslims and people of color as their perpetual enemies.

We must continue to educate our Christian brothers and sisters about our intentions as a community. I think Afridan/American or Black Muslims are uniquely situated because of our familiarity with Christianity and relationships with family members who happen to be christian.

    Salam

  11. I say you should write a new nuttier exam for fundementalist christians that would be a good piece..

  12. [...] alaikum, well, hey, wow, where do I start with this one? Umar Lee and Tariq Nelson have blogged about an incident at the Dar-al-Hijra Masjid in the DC area, where a man supposedly [...]

  13. Did DAH video this event? It would be nice if someone could youtube his fake shahadah and show the cothes he really wore. That way at least that one small part of the lie is proven untrue.

  14. Unfortunately, this false and malicious story is getting a lot of attention on many anti-Islam blogs and forums. Because this Gaubatz punk is supposed to be some senior Intelligence agent, his word is supposed to be the truth. Even if we were somehow able to prove this story to be false, it would probably fall on deaf ears.

Since this Gaubatz joker is supposed to be some sort of top level U.S. Intelligence Agent, surely he was able to sneak in a mic or a spy cam to record all the nonsense he’s talking about, right?!?!?

  15. Visit CAIR’s website to see how you can contact the Washington Times (which promotes this hate group) to express your outrage over the article as well as other false statements they’ve made…

  16. I as well recieved the Mapping Sharia Project through a list serve. Another Islamophobic group was my initial response and then I was literally on the floor laughing that they are so worried about Muslims trying to impose Sharia on the American public while their own mission is about imposing their own form of sharia on America - more from their site:

So at its core, SANE is dedicated to the rejection of democracy and party rule and a return to a constitutional republic, with a vibrant and real federalism at work, providing for an Executive that can execute its mandate to lead the country, a legislature limited to legislating and to its other enumerated powers, and a court system fully reined in to adjudicate facts before the law and not to legislate by judicial fiat.

also part of their mission is:

A rejection of the Open Society agenda and Multiculturalism that so dominates and permeates our society.

On top of all of that is their University level project (proposed) in which they want to establish groups within the Universities to council these “judeo-christian” youths and provide them with counter-information to the scientific-democracy teachings they recieve at the University level. http://www.saneworks.us/An-IASPSSANE-Project-Proposal-article-232-37.htm

Nothing but a bunch of nut cases and lucky you and Umar Lee have now taken up their whole right sidebar with counter arguments. (If I were you though, I would be asking for copies of those audio tapes they claim to have.)

  17. I think inSANE would be a better moniker. But as I said to Tariq, maybe they thought the “thobes” were white hoods? Sorry guys, wrong BBQ…

  18. [...] Moreso, it has come to my attention today that both Umar Lee and Tariq Nelson are both associated with the Dar Al Hijrah Mosque in Falls Church, Virginia which sane works accuses of uncovering “clear and convincing evidence of direct and indirect links to violent Jihad”.  Umar Lee and Tariq Nelson both have post up at their sites in regards to the accusation - go here and here. 20. I want people to realize that you could be the next to be slandered.

    As-Salaamu ‘alaikum,

Actually something like this took place in April 2006; a guy called Joe Kaufman wrote a diatribe against a whole load of the Muslim bloggers including Danya Shakfeh (salika.wordpress.com), Izzy Mo, Jinnzaman, Mujahideen Ryder, Umm Zaid and others. In some cases, the accusation was just that they had attended a CAIR or ISCA conference. The piece contained statements which could be debunked by just visiting the links he provided, which demonstrates that he didn’t care about being caught out. For what it’s worth I don’t think they’re White supremacists as such, but the usual pro-Zionist neo-cons.

  21. Yusuf, these people have white supremest jargon on their site. They want us all DEAD. They want our children DEAD and they want our houses burned to the ground

  23. Thank you Tariq, for sharing this. As I commented on Umar Lee’s blog, I find this shocking. It’s hard for me to believe that this is happening right in our mosque, which has been so open to the public. I pray that Allah makes us stronger, and that we are able to continue the good work that’s being done there instead of being scared into inaction by these truly malicious attempts.

  24. As salaamu alaikum:

This is proposterous! What I don’t understand is how so many people can trust the word of obvious lunatics like these.

There is so much double standard rhetoric in their “article” (if you even call it that) that it could take years to refute every single thing.

JazakAllahu khair for letting us know and may Allah protect us all, ameen.

  25. Just a non-believer here for comments.
First. I didn’t know Muslims wore dresses. (read previous commentary and understand this is sarcasm.)
Second. I didn’t know that Muslims were violent.
Third. I know that most americans don’t understand the faith of Islam. They don’t know anything outside their own borders.
I was raised as a non-believer, I am still a non-believer. Sitting back and looking at your religions, I am perplexed at these conflicts of who is right.
You both believe in the same God!
    Wait! I know!
    Osama Binladen is a fundementalist!
    Isn’t Bush?
    Osama is a terrorist!
    Isn’t Bush?
If people would only live up to their beliefs (or non-beliefs) and help their fellow man, there would be no conflict.
If you think I am another CIA plant. Go to Sabbah’s web site. I hate violence. I hate Osama and Bush.

  31. Like I said, legal action against these guys needs to be taken. They knowingly lied against members of the Dar al Hijrah community, lies which can be proven in a court of law.

Their laies directly lead to violence against the Dar al Hijrah community. In a similar type incident, the leader of a group called WAR “White Aryan Resistance” was held to account for his words that later lead to violence. He was made to pay a multi-million dollar settlement which pretty much ended his movement and put him in eternal bankruptcy.

This is EXACTLY what needs to be done against these guys. They have written, in black and white, words which they knew to be false. It can be proved that the words were false and it is clear their intention was to harm the names and reputations of those people they lied about.

There could not be a more clear cut case for legal recourse. I suggest those harmed take up this legal action now. It was rocks in windows now, if you dont act it will be rocks into people’s heads next. It is much easier to fix a window than attend a Jannaza.

    File legal action NOW!

  36. Blessings and peace to the Dar Al-Hijrah community in the aftermath of this vandalism and slander.

I don’t hold political opinions that would be particularly popular with the Ummah– I think there should be comprehensive and honest examination, and then repudiation, of the elements of Islam that have given rise to hatred of kuffar and mistreatment of them. And from what I have read of the Qur’an, Hadith, and Sira (with the tafasir by Ibn Taymiyyah and tafasir Al-Jalalayn), it is my belief that there actually is some significant support for the kind of mentality and behaviours that have been called “extremist” and seen the Ummah in America stigmatized. I would like to see these problems openly addressed by Muslims, and Islamic supremacism and warfare against kuffar, in any form, totally renounced.

All that aside I do not and will never accept hateful baiting of Muslims, especially not by such see-through liars and bigots. I will be praying for the safety of Imam Johari and Imam Shaker in the days to come. Your community has done nothing to deserve this wickedness.

Also, thank you Tariq for your persistent anti-extremist vigilance on this blog and elsewhere.

    Blessings,

    -The Human Trumpet Solo

  37. Assalaamu alaykum,

It should be noted that Ali Timimi was completely innocent. This is well documented. I do not know what differences there were between Dar Al Hijrah and Br Ali, but Br Ali does not support terrorism and is on tape speaking against it. One reading the blog may mistakenly link Br Ali with extremism. Free Ali !

  38. Salaam Alaikum,

These slandering will spread like wild-fire, but after a while it will die-out and then these people will renew their tactics. Since 9/11 we have been target for everything, but by Allah it only last for a short-time.

Allah knows best but this might be good for us, Insha’Allah people will go out and find the truth for themselves. These people think that by lying, threatning the Muslims the non-Muslims will eventually say, arrest them and ship back home, but Americans in general are of good heart and they will unocver these racist bigots, and Allah is the Best of Planners.

Lets be vigilent and united — disunity is their first victory; creating confusion, is their second victory; and apostating is their final victory.

  39. “This needs be handled in court… This is more than slander it is outright incitement…”

    That’s a good point.

Someone should advise the relevant people about this course of action.

  40. I find it ironic that by their own rules this father and son team should be locked up for 20 years. They did after all go into a mosque and convert to Islam.

  41. Well, perhaps there were a few undercover FBI agents in the place, they will soon sort them out insha Allah.

  42. Alhamdulliah! After each person involved sues; then the book store and Dar Hijrah should sue each news paper and website separately; then we should have enough money to start building a university or a hospital!

They have know idea how much we can really make Northern VA NOVAstan!

    Takbir!

Seriously, the only thing that makes these people take pause is losing money and court time! Paying lawyers for their time or losing money in court, makes a man think twice about his outright slanderous lies.

EVERYONE needs to sue and it’s an easy case to win. You have pictures, a recording of the event most likely, plenty of eye witnesses and email accounts. This mess must stop now. This has simply gone on way to long and it’s going to get WORST. Someone is going to get HURT if you don’t take legal action and press charges now.

Brothers & Sisters be careful whom you talk to and be aware of your surroundings. My years at MAS Freedom made me witness many good people go down just by association, some never said a word, some in the wrong place, and some were very naive. MOST ARE STILL LOCKED UP and I stopped working for MAS 3 years ago. They leave behind women and children and most of these women haven’t worked outside the home and speak poor English. They left this burden on a community already stressed for funds and support. So even if you have some tiny desire to play toy soldier, don’t do it!!! You better pick up a video game or something and stop leaving these women and children behind. Stay away from anyone with toy soldier “symptoms” because chances are he is setting you up.

    THINK

THINK before you act brothers & sisters

Keep all your emails; I even recorded my phone conversations when I worked for MAS especially when I was interviewed.

Make multiple copies and give it to others incase you get locked up on trumped up charges.

It’s also a good idea to video tape everyone who comes into the Masjid. Let the Camera be openly seen by all with a monitor they can see, so that they see themselves as they cross the entrance and exits. Put up signs that say all activity in the Masjid is record with audio and video for your “protection”.

May Allah SWT protect you all and keep our communities safe. InshaAllah

  43. Assalaamu alaikum,

    The accusations are patent nonsense.

If anyone cares to see a deep relationship with Saudi Arabia, look no further than the well-documented Bush family alliance with the Saudi royals and the long, interdependent economic and politcal relationship of the US & Saudia Arabia. If ties with Saudia Arabia constitute a basis of extremism, then the whole nation and its president ought to plead guilty to the charge.

Folks slandered - please don’t trample over Ali Al Timimi in the rush to your own defense. It ought to give you pause to reflect that maybe the same baseless fabrications and hysterical exaggerations foisted against you are the same sort that stripped him of his 1st Amendment Rights and landed him in a no-man’s land of prison. If you can’t bring yourself to defend his honor as a Muslim, then at least as an American defend his right to free speech, a fair appeal process, and decent prison conditions.

Defending oneself against “extremism” is almost a losing cause. Saying one is not an extremist because one doesn’t wear the niqab or a beard or read such and such literature only sets up yet another false definition of extremist and invites witch-hunts. I got an email - from Muslims - of a list of books that promote extremism, including all books by Sayyid Qutb. Can public book burnings be far behind? Like someone else posted, let’s remember the history of oppression regimes. Someone once said in the aftermath of the Nazi nightmare words to this effect: Whenever a society starts burning books, they start burning humans soon after.

  44. Assalaamu alaykum,

Yusuf is right, these nasty people are not White supremacists. They are Israeli zionists hiding behind White supremacist jargon with the aim to further brainwash the American people. White supremacits wouldn’t spell God as G_d.

    Here’s who they really are:

SANE: An Islamophobic group attempts to banish Islam from the U.S.

    The Milli Gazette

    17 June 2007

Stepping into the foot prints of Daniel Pipes, Islamophobist and founder of anti-Islam and anti-Muslim forums such as Middle East Forum and Campus Watch, another pro-Israeli Islamophobist, David Yerushalmi, has established an anti-Islam group known with the acronym SANE: the Society of Americans for National Existence. The sole objective of the group is banishing Islam from the US by making “adherence to Islam” punishable by 20 years in prison.

Before divulging on the agenda of the new group let us discuss the background of the founder of the group, David Yerushalmi.

His official biography at the SANE website states: Yerushalmi was instrumental in establishing the Israel Export Development Co., Ltd., as an entrepreneurial policy tool to initiate radical free market reforms in Israel. Working along side fellow board members and shareholders such as Robert Tishman, Jerry Speyer, Larry Silverstein, Lawrence Tisch, Eugene Grant and Sy Syms, Yerushalmi was appointed the company’s CEO and Chairman.

What is missing in this bio is that Yerushalmi spent 15 years in Israel . Yerushalmi persuaded six U.S. senators and 13 representatives to send letters to Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin backing the zone. He planned to locate Israeli and U.S. high-tech companies in the $2 billion zone project.

David Yerushalmi is member of the Board of Trustees of the Jerusalem-based think tank, the Institute for Advanced Strategic and Political Studies (IASPS) with an affiliated office in Washington D.C. IASPS is dedicated to the defense of Israel. Naturally, SANE was one of the sponsor groups of a pro-Israel Washington DC rally on June 10, 2007.

David Yerushalmi is also a member of the Steering Committee of the Maccabim Foundation for Iranian Emigrants in Israel.

With these credentials, there is little doubt that the SANE, just like the Campus Watch, Jihad Watch and Dhimmi Watch, is another pro-Israeli, anti-Islam and anti-Muslim project exploiting patriotism and the prevailing anti-Muslim hysteria in the nation.

The anti-Muslim hate group advocates making “adherence to Islam” punishable by 20 years in prison. In February of this year, it released a policy paper that in part stated: “Whereas, adherence to Islam as a Muslim is prima facie evidence of an act in support of the overthrow of the US. Government through the abrogation, destruction, or violation of the US Constitution and the imposition of Shari’a on the American People. . .It shall be a felony punishable by 20 years in prison to knowingly act in furtherance of, or to support the, adherence to Islam.”

For SANE’s purposes anybody who follows the teaching of the Quran and Prophet Mohammad is adhering Islam. This includes both major Muslim sects, Sunnis and Shias.

On June 13, SANE unveiled its so-called “Mapping Shari’a in America Project” devoted to spying on 2,300 Islamic institutions in the United States. “The project will collect information about America’s 2,300-plus mosques and associated day schools, provide information to both law enforcement officials and the public, and test the proposition that Shari’a (read Islam) amounts to a criminal conspiracy to overthrow the U.S. government,” the SANE project said.

While launching its “Mapping Sharia Project,” the SANE claimed that hundreds of Islamic centers in the United States have become a hot-bed of extremist activity and promote violence, terrorism and hatred against America.

SANE’s Immigration proposal calls for a ban on Muslim immigration and declaring all non-US citizen Muslims Alien Enemies and deported. In January this year, SANE founder David Yerusalmi issued a paper titled “War Manifesto – The War Against Islam” suggesting that all practicing Muslims, irrespective of their declarations to the contrary, should not be allowed to immigrate to this country.

It may not be a coincidence that the SANE project is being promoted by the Insight, a sister online magazine of the right-wing newspaper Washington Times, which recently launched an attack on the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a major American Muslim civil rights group in a bid to silence genuine Muslim voices. The seven-million strong American Muslim community remains under siege for more than five year through profiling, harassment, interrogation, and peeping by the CIA and FBI. Arabs and Muslims are the prime targets of the post 9/11 reconfiguration of American laws, policies, and priorities.

However, despite constant pressure, the American Muslim community remains vibrant with more social and political activism which may be alarming some agenda-driven anti-Muslim groups and individuals. The formation of such groups as SANE may be seen as another attempt to terrorize and intimidate the American Muslim community.

Someone once said in the aftermath of the Nazi nightmare words to this effect: Whenever a society starts burning books, they start burning humans soon after.

Actually it was Heinrich Heine, a 19th century German journalist and poet, who said that - and he was in fact referring to the burning of the Qur’an by the Spanish Inquisition.

While I believe it is good to expose some of these efforts of people to discredit Islaam, we also have to stop being so naive into thinking that this view and/or these tactics are accepted by a larger portion of this society. Partly because of ignorance and partly because of blind hatred and some other ulterior motive.

The press, in some sick demented way, benefits from these attacks on Islaam. They create sensationalism and fear and people buy into and read more of it on their pages.

  54. Many of those guys probably are racist but I still believe that those who believe Islam is a religion and a state need to leave America. America is a secular nation and those who have an Islamic understanding of the ahl al hadith( Shafi, Maliki, Ja’fari etc) need to leave the West.

The Quran says there is no compulsion in religion but none of those schools of ahl al hadith believe that. These divisions came from the hadith literature during the Abbasid era, they were never a part of early Islam. They were political movements that the Abbasid encouraged and spread. Muslims who continue to follow the doctrines of the madhabs of ahl al hadith need to leave the West.

Yes, many of those guys are probably KKK that want Muslims out. But if you are a follower of those madhabs you shoudn’t be here anyways. The USA is not for you. Muslims who see Islam as a religion and not a state and do not consider the ahl al hadith as authority should be the ones living in the USA.

The Quran instructs the prophet to simply convey the message and he is not to force anyone. It reminds the prophet that he is but a messenger. The ahl al hadith believe he was an enforcer and want to use the state to enforce religion. They get their evidence from their books of doctrine in the hadith collections. They all believe it can abrogate the Quran. All of them have used hadiths from the prophet to back up their claims. They usually contradict each other yet they all claim to get their sources from the prophet. They all believe an apostate should be killed. They all believe in gender discrimination. They all believe in restrictions for religious minorities. None of the ahl al hadith believe in freedom of religion or thought and none of them believe in equality under the law. And none of them believe in freedom of speech. Even though the Quran does, they don’t and they claim the prophet said so.

They do not belong in a democracy, its that simple.

  55. Going to Dar al Hijrah these days feels like one is surrounded by a minefield of spies. Add to that a mish-mash of Ikhwanee garbage and your in for a really uncomfortable time. I miss the late 80’s and early 90’s when Dar al Hijrah seemed so different (and better).

  56. I must agree with you Abu Ameerah. I used to go to Dar Al Hijrah and it sickens me when I see people there that have no knowledge, make such retarded comments left and right and love to attack and kiss up the FBI and CIA.

Dar Al Hijrah is like a rainforest.
Canopy/Sky: Upper Echilons within Dar Al Hijrah such as the admin and people heavily involved and wield great influence. Sloth as you know live high up in the canopy. The admin there is like a sloth. Very slow at change. Occasionally, a harpy eagle will snatch one of these sloths away. After September 11, spies within this masjid as manifested in these eagles will snatch away sloths such as Abdurahman Al-Amoodi, scare away Nadir Salah (influential people). At the end of the day, the sloth admin hopes that it’s lichen and moss that grows on its fur will camouflage them so well and protect them on their ever tight 3 toed claw grip on power.
Mid-Level: People that come and go but know people in the admin. Parrots usually live in this part of the forest along with monkeys. The people there are like these parrots. They spread gossip, chat about almost anything and scoff at different people.
Ground-Level: These are the people that just come for prayer. On the ground level you have leopards (spies) that snatch away heedless innocent people and drag them away. Then you have rodents other small animals that scurry about and nobody in the upper levels of the rainforest would notice them unless something happens or when a mudslide shakes the foundation of the trees.
