Muslims never condemned 9/11

UPDATE: Hood has a post on this subject.

Nope, not a single Muslim according to the racist slur filled emails I received from some anti-Muslim bigots last night in “commemoration of the victims of 9/11″

It’s been six years since the 9/11 attacks and I am amazed that some still think that Muslims have never condemned the 9/11 attacks.

I have condemned terror ad hominum myself on numerous occasions loudly and clearly, but it is still not enough. This is a pretty long list of a lot (not all) of the condemnations that have been issued by individual Muslims and Muslim organizations. Br Sameer Parker has a blog almost completely dedicated to dispelling the myth that Muslims do not refute the murderists. Then there is also this list

Yet I still get over the top racist hate email (and racist comments that have to be deleted non-stop) containing “coon jokes”, racist pictures of lynchings, the n-word and other racial slurs. I haven’t seen such ugly racism in my life until I started this blog and they started emailing me after this post. Wonder if they carry themselves like this in public?

This is why I say that these people can not be satisfied and see what they want to see. Their issue with me appears to be the color of my skin more than my religion.

Nonetheless, we will continue to do the right thing and condemn terror and the lunatics that want to kill all of us.

  1. A brief journey through American History….At least the Muslims are speaking up and out against terrorism, too bad the church isn’t practicing what it preaches!

As someone following the presidential run of mormon, Williard Mitt Romney, I was really struck by this story.

I gew up in the mormon church, and never heard of this….ever. Why not?

    http://www.crimelibrary.com/notorious_murders/mass/mtn_meadows/index.html

Beneath the sands of the once-beautiful land lie the bones of more than 120 men, women and children slain at Mountain Meadows on September 11, 1857, their mortal remains left to the caprices of nature and their killers protected by Utah’s peculiar theocracy. Only one participant was ever punished for the butchery, although more than 50 men took part.

The killers were mostly Mormons; they were respectable members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, but even to this day, the church, while recognizing that Mormons took part in the massacre, disputes claims that the murders were part of an organized plot directed by the church’s leaders.

It’s really interesting that this took place on 9/11 in 1957.

In 1859, two years after the massacre, Brevet Major James Henry Carleton arrived in the area to investigate. At Mountain Meadows where he found women’s hair tangled in sage brush and the bones of children still in their mothers’ arms.[48] Carleton later said it was “a sight which can never be forgotten.” After gathering up the skulls and bones of those who had died, Carleton’s troops buried them and erected a rock cairn inscribed with the words, Here 120 men, women, and children were massacred in cold blood early in September, 1857. They were from Arkansas, along with a cross bearing the words, Vengeance is mine. I will repay, saith the Lord.

I am not posting here to pass judgement on Mitt Romney. I am posting to help us all understand a little better, who Mormons are. This is by NO means meant to represent Mormons today.

You can run a google on Mountain Meadows Massacre and learn more. I found most all the same info on several sites. It is said there was mass murder of women and children and rape.

Posting it here for those interested in some mormon history that isn’t talked about much.

    For obvious reasons I guess.

I never even heard about this in school. Odd.

  6. Salaams Tariq,

I’m sorry you receive such disturbing mail. It shows two things, I think. Firstly, humankind is clearly going through some disturbing and important times. Secondly, you are doing important work.

    May God strengthen your arm…
