Making fun of stereotyping

Brad Greenberg has a post about Arab stereotyping in Hollywood and posts an article about an Arab actor that can only get work as a terrorist. They mention that in 2003 he made a short film called “T for Terrorist” in which an Arab actor, frustrated with endless terrorist roles, takes over a movie set at gunpoint.

I don’t think that was very affective way to demonstrate a point (if he was trying to make one). One of the quickest ways to make a point in this culture is through satire. Back in the 1980s, Robert Townsend did a good job of made fun of Hollywood’s stereotyping of blacks:

“Black Acting School” where white instructors teach black actors how to “act black” (Warning, Some explicit language)

There was a time in America where stuff like what is below was common portrayal of blacks
