Is there anything, ANYTHING Hamza Yusef (and the rest of Zeituna) does not have ownership of Islam? Or is he the man who one needs to get an approval of matter of Islam?
I am surprised to see Hamza Yusef on subject of the first Black Muslims in America when you have a world recognized Scholar in your own country, and when his books, lectures, papers are read in the four corners of the world, even been advisor for governments, and not to mention that he is a pioneer on Islam in America. Why are you running after a 15 min fame digger?

as-salaamu ‘alaikum. This is very good. I’m glad you posted this Tariq. I did something on it back in the spring and I was starting to feel like this project was never going to finish. I am praying that this film becomes very popular among African-American people.
Perhaps it will encourage more African-Americans to learn about the origins of their own ethnic groups and heritage, inshaAllah. I have very strong feelings about the importance of this kind of knowledge. I think its very important because you are without doubt or contradiction what your ancestors are.

This is one of my favorite stories. The book is a great read. Brother Sori is not of course the only figure of royalty enslaved and sent to the U.S. There are plenty of others as well.
