I know that many of you don’t like it when I say it, but I’m sorry. This is just sick. The level of barbarity continues to shock..
Two mentally disabled women were strapped with explosives Friday and sent into busy Baghdad markets, where they were blown up by remote control, a top Iraqi government official said.
These creeps have a relentless and psychopathic death drive. They love blood and destruction. Their insanity and heartlessness is so complete that it transcends interpretation. Their authoritarian drive is so primal and so pure that normal people can’t generate any type of meaning out of their actions. They have an insatiable drive for control - for power, for domination, for the subjugation of wills. What is even more incomprehensible is that they don’t think they’re villains. They even see themselves as the heroes of their own evil and sick world. This is why they don’t feel the slightest remorse in their actions. That’s what makes them so terrifying.

If the individual or group behind this disgusting bombing thinks this will bring an end to the occupation, well they are gravely mistaken. The War Party is going to seize upon this to “prove” that the occupation and the surge must continue.
No moral person, especially a Muslim, would deny the right of the Iraqi people to resist the unjust occupation. But crimes like this only play into the hands of the pro-occupation camp.
The “disabled women” actually reportedly had down syndrome. That only shows how sick those people are

The suicide bombings are heinous indeed.
I, however, don’t put too much confidence in what the Iraqi goverment officials say or supposed eye witnesses that were debriefed by the Al-Maliki security forces. Using memtally impaired sisters would be a new low, but as a skeptic, I’m simply cannot accept on the surface the gov’s narrative.

Why do Islamic societies produce a high percentage, comparably, of those who feel empowered to beat up or kill?
There are an amazing number of muslims who think they have the right to assault or kill people for their attire, lifestyles, or speech.
Psychos occur in every society, but muslims seem to churn them out.
I am thinking in particular of the Christian Nigerian schoolteacher who last year was mobbed and killed by a hysterical mob on the suspicion that she had dropped a Koran.
Eliza, the West produces a number of people who torment and murder mentally retarded people for fun. British disability organisations report that there has been a rising tide of violent acts against disabled people, particularly mentally disabled, which they regard as hate crimes (although I disagree with them on that point; I think it is plain cruelty). The USA also produces more than its fair share of psychos, like the gang who held and tortured a young Black woman in (IIRC) West Viriginia a while back, which was reported here. This, however, is very much a new phenomenon in the Muslim world as killing mentally retarded people on purpose (other than for self-defence) is an act which could not be justified by the same reasoning as that used to justify killing soldiers, police, or real or perceived infidels. I’ve not heard of it before in years of atrocities by these types of people, and it is possible that elements in the security forces were responsible.
What I am wondering is why Islam produces those who think it’s ok:
to assault /kill a woman who is not dressed to certain specifications.
to form hysterical murderous mobs
to assault /kill hairdressers, gay people, etc.
to murder for theological disagreements
I do not think murder and assault for all these reasons is something new in Islam. You assault and kill yourselves just as well as non muslims.
All societies produce some psychos. But what other set of schoolgirls would have thought it was ok to kill their teacher for being of a different religion and for putting a bookbag on the floor?
Maybe Nazi, Communist, or medieval schoolgirls. Or girls from some South Sea aboriginal tribe that kills all forgeign visitors.

You would like to assume that due to a hefty dose of sensationalized news that Murder, rape, mayhem, destruction, and general criminality are much more common in the “Muslim” world than they are in the genteel and oh so sane, civilized, and peaceful “west”.

Yes, I am quite aware that the whole world has bad people in it. Refer to the lines in Tariq’s post especially the lines starting with

You may be looking specifically for why Muslims or people influenced by the Quran are riotous, cray, or criminal. As you can see it is easy to pull news articles out of the Google cloud and “prove” why one group of people are bad, this magically making those that are not like them “good”.
My point is: All of this is latent bigotry.

You present people that do such things as obviously non-western and non-white, while violence against teachers these days - if one were to use only news reports - would seem to be the sole property of teenage British girls.
If you want to prove something, do some scientific research. Any one can prove anything they want through a few news articles.

I think Islam has protected itself for centuries with murder, prison and lynch mobs. Its chief victims have been muslims.
At the end of the civil war, some of his officers suggested to Robt. E. Lee that southern troops should hide themselves in the hills and harrass the yankee occupiers with guerilla warfare indefinitely. He said no, that peace would be more beneficial in the long run.
