Urgent Cases for week of April 22nd 2008 to April 29th 2008 

 

  

NOTE: All FAITH clients receive budget counseling and caseworkers assist them in developing a new plan to manage their budgets and become self-sufficient.

 

 

  1. Husband & Wife with 4 kids all under the age of 6.  Vienna, VA area. One of the children has Down Syndrome. Father works P/T. The family is requesting a loan of $7,000 – they can pay back $50 per month. Please reply if you can provide a loan to this family.

 

  1. Single Mom with 2 kids (4 yr old and 7-month old baby). Reston, VA area. Husband abandoned family when baby was 4 months old. The mother used to work at the supermarket but it was a temporary job. She is looking for a job. Her current income from government assistance is $500 per month. She is behind on bills. $270 rent needed.

 

  1. Single Mom with 2 kids (6 and 4 years old). Reston, VA area. She is behind on rent and all other bills. Her rent is $1,250 and that is what she makes in a month. Her brother is moving in to help with rent as of next month. Rent help needed this month: $1,250.

 

  1. Single woman abandoned by husband; no family. Alexandria, VA area. Was working and able to handle bills after husband left but now she has a dislocated disc in her back and other health problems and cannot work more than 4-5 hours per week. She is behind on her medical bills. She has no insurance. Help needed with 2 bills: $459 total.

 

  1. Single Mom with 2 kids behind on utilities. Lovettsville, VA area. Works but most money goes for housing expenses. She is planning to get a housemate to help pay expenses. Another organization has helped with $400 of her electric bill. $308 for remainder of electric bill needed.

 

  1. Single mom and daughter. CASE REPEATED. Leesburg area. Mom laid off from work. The daughter works 2 jobs but cannot cover their expenses. Facing eviction and due in court at end of this month. The mom is looking for work. Bills due for rent and electricity total $1,358.48 needed.

 

  1. Family of 4 (kids ages 5 and 3). CASE REPEATED. Alexandria, VA area. Husband injured in a car accident; can no longer work. Wife had contract work; contract ended and she has not been able to find work. No income. Behind on many bills including rent and at risk of homelessness. $3,825 needed..

 

  1. Family of 5. CASE REPEATED. Montgomery Village, MD area. Husband is sick and cannot work. The mother works as a babysitter and part-time cook but she is behind on the family’s rent and bills. $1,695 needed.

 

  1. Father with Parkinson’s, wife and 2 kids. CASE REPEATED. Falls Church, VA area. The father cannot work due to his Parkinson’s disease. The mother works part-time and earns little. The husband had extra medical bills this month. $97 needed.

 

  1. Husband laid off; wife supporting family; kids are 7 and 3 month old baby. CASE REPEATED. Accokeek, MD area. Mother is working full time; husband laid off since August 2007. They are behind on all bills.. Gas bill almost $1,000; water $394; phone bill $300, and $4,000 behind on their rent. Total of $5,694 needed – 30 people donating $189.80 each.

 

  1. Single mother supporting 4 kids. CASE REPEATED. Alexandria area. Recently forced by circumstances to move to this area; she is trying to find work but cannot so far. Her son applied for a job. She needs to find a place to live. She owes $1,350 rent for this month.

 

  1. Single mom with 2 kids (ages 6 and 4). CASE REPEATED. Sterling area. Husband abandoned wife and his kids, they need money for rent. He used to pay but now she has no one to help. To prevent homelessness: $1,250 in rent needed.

 

  1. Family of 4. CASE REPEATED. Springfield area. The husband and son are working but they cannot pay their expenses. The family is going through problems. $209 needed.

 

  1. Single Mom with 4 kids (ages 13, 12, 6, 4). CASE REPEATED. Centreville area. She got behind on rent due to a major car repair bill she had to pay. She needs help to pay the rent due. $880 needed.

B.  Deliver your cash or check donation in person

 

a) To the FAITH office at the above address during normal business hours. Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. 

 

b) On weekends, you can use the donation box in the FAITH Thrift Store (and shop while you’re there - proceeds serve the needy!). The Thrift Store is located at the address as above. Weekend hours are Saturday 10am to 4:30pm and Sunday 12pm to 4pm. The Thrift Store phone number is 703-766-3396.

 

c) On the 2nd Friday of every month, a FAITH representative has a table at the ADAMS Center. Donate your cash or check on your way to or from jumuah.

 

C.      Sign up for “Bill Pay” at your bank to make regular monthly donations to FAITH . You arrange with your bank to make FAITH the payee, you designate the monthly amount, and your donations will be automatically sent to us on a monthly basis. You need FAITH’s address which is 500 Grove Street, Suite 210, Herndon, VA, 20170. At most banks this is a free service to you and FAITH is not charged – a win, win solution.

 

D.      Donate to FAITH online with PayPal.  Enter the donation amount ($50, $100, or more). The fast, convenient option of secure online payment. Please note that PayPal takes about 3% of your donation as a service fee. If you choose this option, consider adding some money to your donation to cover the cost of the fee.
