FAITH Urgent Cases for May 1^st to May 6^th 2008

NOTE: All FAITH clients receive budget counseling and caseworkers assist them in developing a new plan to manage their budgets and become self-sufficient.

1. Family of 4 Needs Gas Money. Wife has serious lung problem, daughter is mentally challenged. Husband cannot work because he has to take care of wife and children. They are behind on rent. $30 for gas money needed.

1. Single Dad with 14 yr. old child. Springfield area. Father is unemployed, recently laid off job. He is looking for a job. He is behind on rent. He received $500 in rent from other assistance; $600 in rent help needed.

1. Single Mom with 2 Kids (ages 7 and 1). Reston area. She is behind on rent and other bills because her son was sick all last month and she couldn’t work because she had to stay at home with him. She will be applying for government assistance such as food stamps. $950 needed.

1. Single Grandmother with Cancer. Leesburg area. Last month she found out she has cervical cancer. She can’t work at this time because she has to go through chemotherapy. Her daughter is transitioning to a full time job to help support her and the grandchildren. $1,200 rent help needed.

1. Retired Single Grandmother raising her Grandkids. Sterling area. Her daughter is emotionally disturbed and cannot raise her children. The grandmother is behind on all her bills. Gas bill is $800, water bill is $218.28 and electric bill is $368.43. Total of $1,386.71 needed.

1. Single Mom with 3 kids is Going for Back Surgery. Sterling area. She survives on a small income but is having a hard time making ends meet this month. She was renting a room for $500 but this month the tenant left. Until she gets a new tenant she needs help with rent. $500 needed.

1. Single Mom with 2 Kids (17, 9). Silver Spring area. Her contract job has ended and she cannot cover her rent for this month. $1,372 for rent needed.

1. Single Homeless Woman with No Family. Fairfax area. She wants to get a job but she does not have money to apply for her work permit. When she gets her permit she can get into transitional housing, find a job, and get to self-sufficiency insha’Allah. $340 needed.

1. Husband & Wife with 4 kids all under the age of 6. APRIL CASE REPEATED. Vienna, VA area. One of the children has Down Syndrome. Father works P/T. The family is requesting a loan of $7,000 to buy a car – they can pay back $50 per month.

1. Single Mom with 4 kids (ages 13, 12, 6, 4). APRIL CASE REPEATED. Centreville area. She got behind on rent due to a major car repair bill she had to pay. She needs help to pay the rent due. $880 needed.

B. Deliver your cash or check donation in person

1) To the FAITH office at the above address during normal business hours. Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

2) On weekends, you can use the donation box in the FAITH Thrift Store (and shop while you’re there - proceeds serve the needy!). The Thrift Store is located at the address as above. Weekend hours are Saturday 10am to 4:30pm and Sunday 12pm to 4pm. The Thrift Store phone number is 703-766-3396.

3) On the 2nd Friday of every month, a FAITH representative has a table at the ADAMS Center. Donate your cash or check on your way to or from jumuah.

C. Sign up for “Bill Pay” at your bank to make regular monthly donations to FAITH . You arrange with your bank to make FAITH the payee, you designate the monthly amount, and your donations will be automatically sent to us on a monthly basis. You need FAITH’s address which is 500 Grove Street, Suite 210, Herndon, VA, 20170. At most banks this is a free service to you and FAITH is not charged – a win, win solution.
