Philly Black Mafia Documentary

For those that missed BET’s interesting documentary on the Philly ‘Black Mafia’ - a criminal organization that allegedly operated out of the NOI’s Philadelphia Temple #12 - it is below in 5 parts. Read about the Black Mafia here

The Philly Black Mafia was also behind the murder of the family of Hamaas Abdul-Khaalis.

From wikipedia:

The adults and one child were shot while the other children were drowned. The intended target of this crime was Hamaas Abdul Khaalis, of the Hanafi Muslims, for a letter he had written to the Black Muslims claiming that Elijah Muhammad was a false prophet and that certain members of Elijah Muhammad’s NOI were merely gangsters who were harming the name of Islam. The difficulty in obtaining evidence to successfully prosecute the crime fomented a breakdown by Khaalis as he sought to draw attention to the case of his murdered family.

  1. I never heard of this group till now. Philly and Baltimore still have these same problems.

  2. So there were Hanafi Muslims? For many years my mom used to talk about some of her friends being a part of that sect of Muslims. Weren’t sure if we were correct as we forgot the name of them or that we thought it was the Salafis.

  3. So how does Louis Farrakhan stack up and the NOI today?
” So numbed have I become by the endless replay of the fatuous clerical rantings of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright that it has taken me this long to remember the significant antecedent. In 1995, there appeared a documentary titled Brother Minister about the assassination of Malcolm X. It contained a secretly filmed segment showing Louis Farrakhan shouting at the top of his lungs in the Nation of Islam’s temple in Chicago on “Savior’s Day” in 1993. Farrakhan, verging on hysteria, demanded to know of the murdered Malcolm X: “If we dealt with him like a nation deals with a traitor, what the hell business is it of yours?” His apparent admission of what had long been suspected—that it was the Black Muslim leadership that ordered Malcolm’s slaying—is not understood or remembered (or viewed) as often as it might be.

This is the guy Rev.W and OB call Reverend Farrakhan? I think there is still more to this than meets the eye and it doesn’t just set right.

  4. I think I saw this, but on American Gangster, the documentary series on BET (the series aired before the movie, btw). It was alarming to discover just how cruel they were.

patb - Are you insinuating that because Farrakhan was referred to with a “Reverend” before his name, there is something “more” to it, other than the fact that all of these men resided in Chicago and possibly served virtually the same communities? It would irresponsible for Barack and Reverend Wright to NOT be familiar with Farrakhan due to the fact that they are serving some of his followers in addition to the rest of the citizens of Chicago.

Now if you have something to offer which is more concrete, I’d be less inclined to disregard it the way I have your afore mentioned statement. If you know something, please share.

  5. Just my opinion.
The Farrakhan/Wright trip to Libya as pals etc. and the comments Wright has made about F.
The gangster issue here and Farrakhans own comments about the NOI taking care of a traitor (killing MalcomX).
So the Rev.W hangs around with this guy and preaches very similar victimhood stuff. He knowingly hangs out with a guy commonly known to have elicited murder and he’s a preacher?
We’ve (many folks) figured out Rev.W in just a few days based upon his own actions/comments and, if we are to believe him, OB just figured it out last week after 20 years exposure.
I believe OB actually believes in Rev.W’s message (like Wright said, “He says what he says, he’s a politician” ;) and has changed his tune to talk to a different audience. I think he’s playing a pure political game on the public by hiding his true self for the process.
He’s dapper, articulate, and a great liar.
He’s pulling a great con and it’s working because folks want to believe in him, the MSM gave him a pass for so long, and he’s black and many want to attone for our sins thru him by electing him ( I think his populist support represents a good thing but for a bad reason).
I simply no longer trust him at all.
He’s either extremely weak and maliable or a deceiver and neither is supportable.
    Sorry to be off thread.
    That’s what I mean.

  6. No need to be sorry patb. I see that you have made many personal observations which were in the back of your head as you wrote your previous post. Now I can understand the thinking behind the comments in that post.
