FAITH Urgent Cases for May 7th to May 13th 2008
NOTE: All FAITH clients receive budget counseling and caseworkers assist them in developing a new plan to manage their budgets and become self-sufficient.
- Single Woman Lives By Herself. Reston, VA area. She was laid off from work 2 months ago and looking for a job. Facing eviction and homelessness. $1,200 rent help needed.
- Senior Lady. Falls Church, VA area. She lives by herself. Can no longer work. She gets a social security check. She’s behind on her gas and rent. She plans to go into senior housing once she gets accepted. $537.73 needed.
- Family of 4 (kids 4 and 3 ½). Fairfax, VA area. Husband has epilepsy and works at fast food restaurant. Wife works part-time so she can care for kids. They live in a basement but have trouble paying rent. Plan to move to low-income housing soon. $900 needed.
- Family of 4 w/ No Money for Gas.. Sterling, VA area. Husband cannot find suitable work and wife didn’t work for long time because of chronic neck pain. They are behind on rent and do not have money for gas. Wife will get a job starting next week but will not get a paycheck for several weeks. $700 rent help needed.
- Single Mother with Mental Health Issues. Arlington, VA area. She keeps trying to get a job but with her health issues it is difficult. She cannot afford her medication. She lost consciousness and had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital. $20 needed for meds.
- Family of 3 (4 yr old child). Fairfax, VA area. Husband works, wife cannot work because of a dislocated disc. They are behind on bills and rent. Most of their income goes to rent. They plan to apply for low-income housing. $1,587.34 for bills and rent.
- Young Couple w/ 5 Kids. Leesburg, VA area. Husband was laid off suddenly, wife is a waitress. They had been managing money well on a low income, but now cannot pay rent. Husband has already applied for other jobs. $1,150 for rent needed.
- Single Father w/ Son. Herndon, VA area. He lost his job and got behind 2 months rent. Hard-working and has new job, but his 1st paycheck will come mid-May. He needs to pay his back rent now. He has savings for 1 month of rent; needs the rest. $778 needed.
- Husband & Wife with 5-Weeks Old Baby. Sterling, VA area. Father works small night job. Wife had recent gallbladder surgery. They have fallen behind on bills. $869 needed.

B. Deliver your cash or check donation in person
1) To the FAITH office at the above address during normal business hours. Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
2) On weekends, you can use the donation box in the FAITH Thrift Store (and shop while you’re there - proceeds serve the needy!). The Thrift Store is located at the address as above. Weekend hours are Saturday 10am to 4:30pm and Sunday 12pm to 4pm. The Thrift Store phone number is 703-766-3396.
3) On the 2nd Friday of every month, a FAITH representative has a table at the ADAMS Center. Donate your cash or check on your way to or from jumuah.
C. Sign up for “Bill Pay” at your bank to make regular monthly donations to FAITH . You arrange with your bank to make FAITH the payee, you designate the monthly amount, and your donations will be automatically sent to us on a monthly basis. You need FAITH’s address which is 500 Grove Street, Suite 210, Herndon, VA, 20170. At most banks this is a free service to you and FAITH is not charged – a win, win solution.
