Why Non-Violent Civil Disobedience?

“I am here to help you to find, take back, and keep your righteous mind”

The Great Debaters was an inspirational movie in an inspirational time for children in America…I bought it this weekend for future (deeper) discussion with my children. They’ve already seen it, but are not old enough to fully appreciate it.

This was one of the most powerful scenes from the end of the movie. They were debating the question of whether of not civil disobedience was moral…James Farmer, Jr (portrayed by Denzel Whitaker) gives the final response

One Response to “Why Non-Violent Civil Disobedience?”

  1. I’ll get the movie, it looks very good.
Every american has the right to self defense, individually and collectively.
Unjust laws, or indifference, raised to the level of organized violence must be met with an opposing force equal to that improperly applied.
Luckily, with a few exceptions, we’ve avoided that scenario.
